Yea Autumn Festival a day of free
entertainment, when Yea’s main street comes alive
with stalls, theatre, music, demonstrations, crafts and
all those wondrous vehicles, will be taking place again
on Sunday 16th March 2008. Bring the family and the visitors
and enjoy a wonderful carnival atmosphere as you browse
or sit and listen to the great range of local talent
on centre stage.
A new feature
this year will be the Inaugural Amateur Photography Competition
which will be staged in Beaufort Manor. An opening night
of drinks and nibbles will be held at Beaufort Manor
on the Saturday evening commencing at 8pm when the winning
entries will be announced. There are six categories for
entries with excellent prizes for each section plus a

The Wangaratta Pipe Band
will perform twice during the day. There will be free entertainment
from 9am until 4pm by talented local artists on centre
stage.

The gleaming vintage, veteran, custom
and classis vehicles as well as motorbikes will be parked
throughout High Street for you to browse around and talk to
the owners. Different car clubs and vehicles come each year
so there is always something new to see. This year sees a
larger display of internal combustion engines by the Yarra
Valley Preservation Society, added attractions will be a hay
making machine and a log splitter and cutting demonstrations
in the parking area at the western end of High Street this
area will also have a designated disabled parking area. The
Traders dash will again see a spirited competition from representatives
of local business and organisations and sporting groups, this
event creates a lot of interest on the day.

The main street will be closed to
traffic, which will provide pedestrians with a safe and easy
access to all areas. One will be able to stroll leisurely
along the shopping precinct and sample the wares of our local
cafes, bakeries, restaurants and hotels. There will be a large
number and variety of market stalls, which will offer many
varied products and fresh homegrown produce. Sample wines
from our wineries, cheeses, local bread, oliveproducts and
much more and maybe take some home.

At the Yea Pool there will be radio
controlled boats, warships, yachts, fishing boats, tug boats,
trawlers and submarines if we are lucky, all made to scale
and displayed and demonstrated by enthusiasts of the Surry
Park Boat Club who travel up to Yea for the day from Melbourne.
Those interested in art and craft there is a wonderful display
in our Historic Shire Hall all produces by our local talented
artists and quilters.
